The 11th season of the podcast "Revolutions" by historian Mike Duncan was a fictitious "History of the Martian Revolution". An engrossing story told over 27 episodes that will appeal to anyone interested in historical documentaries and hard political science fiction. It made such an impression on me, I had to bring a bit of it into the real world.
The "Martian Guard" formed after the revolution of 2744 wore red berets, as the political agitators of the revolution did before them. Known as the "red caps", they became a paramilitary police force for the three colonies of Mons Olympus, Tharsis and Elysium.
The cap badge features a globe of Mars including features such as Mons Olympus and Valles Marineris. As well as a nod to Phobos and Deimos the two moons of Mars bookending the text on top and bottom. The badge was designed in AutoDesk Fusion, and printed in PLA on a BambuLabs X1C w/ 0.2mm nozzle. Finished with AK Interactive's "True Metal Wax" in "Old Bronze".
Thank you to Mike Duncan for an inspiring work of scifi!
